How to assign position for module in Opencart layout

Opencart is one of the most powerful ecommerce platform, it allows you to build layout your way, assign module to any position in the layout. In this tutorial, we will show you how to add module to a layout and assign it to a position in the layout. Let’s get started.

1. Install and configure module

To add new Opencart module, go to Extensions > Modules, select the module you want to configure: enable it so that it can be shown in front-page.

In this tutorial, we select “Banner” module, as its already installed so I just need to configure it by hitting the “configure” button.

Once done, save the module setting and we move to next step.

2. Assign Module to a position in specific layout.

In Opencart 2.0, all layouts are stored in: System > Design > Layouts

In this page, you would see list of layouts available in your Opencart system. Select the layout you want to customize.

Now, add new module, assign “Banner” module that we created in step 1 and assign position for the Banner module in the Home layout and save the settings.

Click on “Save” button in the top right corner when you have completed settings of the layout. It means that the Banner module has been enabled in the Home layout.
